Training Courses Plymouth Family Support Services offers specialist training courses related to family life for those working with children and families, open to all who are interested. All in-house day courses are held at Kinterbury House and run from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm unless otherwise stated. The fee is £35 per person per day, including lunch and refreshments.
Autumn Courses Full details of courses available this Autumn are given in the Autumn Course Programme Booking Form To book any of our courses, please download, print and complete the booking form Training Certificate O.C.N.S.W. (3 Credits at Level 2) An opportunity for people who work with children and families to extend their knowledge and therefore enhance their skills. Process for Students Obtain support for your application from your organisation or employer, who must nominate a supervisor.
Complete the OPEN COLLEGE NETWORK SOUTH WEST registration form (available from the course tutor).Unit One: Child Protection Attend the following training days:
- Introduction to Child Abuse Issues & Procedures.
- Physical Abuse and Neglect
- Emotional Harm
- Sexual Abuse
On completion of the twenty hours training, contact course tutor for an assessment interview. A list of the criteria you will be expected to meet is available from the Training Administrator.
Unit Two: Family Support Services In consultation with your Supervisor, select 4 further training days from the approved list. Complete booking forms and return them with the appropriate fees to PFSS.
On completion of these days, following the same process as before, ask your Supervisor to complete the assessment form for Unit Two.
Your file of course material will be moderated by the course tutor and the Moderator.
Successful candidates will then be awarded the Plymouth Family Support Services Training Certificate; three credits at level 2.At each training course:
- Collect and retain all course materials.
- Keep a journal recording your reactions to the course and commenting on its effectiveness
- Obtain a certificate of attendance from the course Tutor
- Arrange a session with your Supervisor to discuss the course, check the course material and your journal
- Ask your Supervisor to complete the assessment form.
